The People’s Market

A Market for the people, by the people.

Imagine going into a grocery store not knowing if you’re able to purchase the essentials you need for your family. This is the reality for 1 in 7 Canadians. We are aiming to close the gap for clients from diverse racial and religious backgrounds to obtain food and essentials for themselves and their families, by launching the People’s Market.

The People's Market is a program that provides a dignified grocery store experience to those facing food insecurity. We offer a more

empowering experience than a regular food bank, with our setup reflecting more of a grocery store. We have shopping carts and aisles that clients entering the Market can use to choose what they need according to their own family's needs and their cultural preferences. We also have a fridge and freezer that contains fresh or frozen items, as opposed to most food banks which only carry dried or canned goods.
