WINDSOR, November 30, 2023 - Sakeenah Canada is proud to announce the launch of its long-term housing program, with its first location in Windsor, Ontario. This new project, a furnished apartment unit, is an exciting milestone for the organization as it is not only the first long-term housing project for Sakeenah Canada, but it is also the first of its kind for Muslim women and their families in Canada. Unlike traditional shelter programs, this program offers independent housing for women and their families facing domestic violence and homelessness, rather than a shared home.

MILTON, January 24, 2023 – Sakeenah Homes and SMILE Canada are proud to announce that the doors to the first shelter for Muslim women and children with disabilities in Ontario is now open, making a more inclusive and accessible housing option available for families. Sakeenah and SMILE Canada have partnered to ensure key access features throughout the home for clients with various disabilities. The Milton shelter marks Sakeenah’s seventh home in Canada and is also the first shelter for Muslim women and children in the Halton region.


WINNIPEG, October 13, 2022 - Sakeenah Homes is thrilled to announce that the doors are now open at its sixth transitional home in Canada - this time in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Starting today, the transitional home will be able to help the growing number of vulnerable Muslim women (and their children) who are facing domestic violence and homelessness in the area.

The St. John’s shelter will provide a safe and accessible housing option for vulnerable Muslim women and children facing domestic violence and homelessness in the area. 

REGINA, October 27, 2023 - Sakeenah Canada is proud to announce the opening of its eighth transitional home in Regina, Saskatchewan. Being the first of its kind in Saskatchewan, the shelter will provide a safe and accessible housing option for vulnerable Muslim women and children facing domestic violence and homelessness in the area.
